"Tekfestival. At the Border of the World...inside the West" is held annually in Rome and focuses its programming on independent productions and movies exploring social issues. Each year the festival hosts several international premieres.

The project has the following main objectives: to offer to the Italian audience a showcase of the best most recent international productions; to promote circulation and exposure of Italian documentaries focusing on social issues; to boost audience participation through Q&A with filmmakers; to contribute to a wider distribution of documentaries by producing each year the DVD of one of the movies selected by the festival; to expand the variety of cinematographic cultures in Italy and to promote the diffusion of independent and socially engaged productions; to bolster the role of peripheral and non-metropolitan areas as nodes of cinema production and circulation.

The festival runs for seven days and it includes a variety of thematic sections. In addition to a number of well-established competitive and non-competitive sections, each year the festival proposes new showcases reflecting the organizers’ broad range of interests.

The 9^th edition will take place from May 6^th-13^th, 2010.
