The 7/th Tekfestival will take place in Rome from May 6th to May 11th at Cinema Farnese and Cinema Trevi. The screenings will be held every two hours, from 4.00pm to midnight.

The line-up of the festival presents about 80 works, including national and international premieres. In addition to the well-established national and international competitions, the festival will be divided into sections and “visual paths”.

Landscapes. The major section, that represents the editorial line of Tekfestival. A selection of about 20 films from the most important international and national festivals focusing on some burning issues: globalization, war, the setting up of historical memory, use of mass-media, division of the world into north and south, and relations among sexual genders and generations.

Special events. A selection of six major films (one for each day, usually the Italian premiere of successful , abroad award-winner movies), presented by the directors themselves.

Focus on Harun Farocki. In collaboration with Goethe - Institut Rom and qwatz artist residence. Farocki’s works have been displayed all over the world. Former editor and author of «Fimktrik» film magazine and visiting professor at  University of California-Berkeley, he teaches in Vienna since 2004. The focus includes a selection of 8 works and a video-installation.

Ice, fire and bordering lands. For the 4th time, a glance over the most recent and interesting documentary productions and short films coming from the Scandinavian countries. From social criticism issues to experimental and animation films. 450 minutes of visions which represents the best productions in the last two years.

Phag Off. Bodies, visions, desires. For the 5th year in a row, Phag Off is the border zone between l.g.b.t. community and queer imagery, mixing theories and entertainment. That is why this section is made up of two “souls”: bears on film, which explores the gay movie scene focusing on male-gender representation, and phag the cinema, focusing on queer issues and gender identity crisis. Films, workshops, and entertainment, but also happenings, parties and debates with the directors throughout the festival.

Dangerously Eastwards. Presenting a selection of works coming from Eastern Europe, this section is a journey to the “New European” countries, lands of new frontiers and experimentations. These works show diverse and difficult stories of men and women who now are overlooking Europe, leaving their slowly redeveloping society behind them.

International documentary competition. A competition among 8 abroad award winner documentaries, each coming from a different country .

National documentary competition. A competition among Italian documentary filmmakers. The selected works are passionate, committed, ironic, intimist, social. This section presents the finest Italian documentary productions made during the last year.
