 Kym Ragusa, USA, 1996, 9', DVD La nonna della videomaker narra del viaggio che lei e il suo compagno intrapresero attraverso il Sud segregazionista degli Stati Uniti negli anni '50. Mentre racconta, dicendo più con i silenzi e con i vuoti che con le parole, della musica blues e gospel nella colonna sonora rievoca altre storie di mescolanze razziali e resistenza. Il racconto è pieno delle tensioni su temi quali la razza, la classe, il colore e l'ansietà, prodotte dalla situazione razziale e dalla storia violenta del Sud degli Stati Uniti. The videomaker's grandmother recounts the tale of a trip she and her lover took through the segregated South of the 1950s. As her story unfolds - revealing as much in silences and gaps as it does in its actual narrative - a blues and gospel soundtrack provides other tales of miscegenation and resistance. The story is full of tensions around race, class and color and the anxieties produced by the racial climate and violent history of the South. Kym Ragusa, è l'autrice di La pelle che ci separa, pubblicato negli Stati Uniti nel 2006 e in Italia nel 2008. Ha insegnato scrittura creativa al City College, Queens College e al Eugene Lang College di New York e presso la Josai International University in Giappone. Kym Ragusa, is the author of The Skin Between Us, published in the USA in 2006 and in Italy in May, 2008. She has taught Creative Writing at City College, Queens College, and Eugene Lang College in New York, and at Josai International University in Japan. Her films, Passing and Fuori/Outside, have been shown at festivals throughout the North America and Europe.
