Il Tekfestival presenta una selezione dei primi lavori di Moira Tierney, filmmaker nata a Dublino e residente a Brooklyn, New York. Da Tiger Me Bollix (2000), ritratto di tre bambini irlandesi, ai funamboli e acrobati cinesi di Circus (2003), i film di Tierney trasmettono una sensibilità poetica che accompagna gli spettatori a lungo dopo la visione. La selezione include You Can't Keep a Good and The Boys Are Back in Town (2000), Radio Haiti, Morzh (Walrus) and American Dreams #1 & #2 (2001), American Dreams #3: Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness (2002).


Tekfestival presents a selection of early works by Dublin born and Brooklyn based filmmaker Moira Tierney. From Tiger Me Bollix (2000), a portrait of three Dublin children shot in 16mm, to the tightrope walkers and Chinese acrobats of Circus (2003), Tierney's works convey a poetic sensitivity intensified by music sounds tracks that haunts the viewers long after they have left the cinema. The selection includes You Can't Keep a Good and The Boys Are Back in Town (2000), Radio Haiti, Morzh (Walrus) and American Dreams #1 & #2 (2001), American Dreams #3: Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness (2002).



Moira Tierney, nata a Dublino, ha studiato all'University College Dublin e all'Ecole Nationale d'Arts de Cergy-Pontoise di Parigi. Nel 1998 ha ricevuto una borsa di studio Fulbright per l'Anthology Film Archives (New York). Nell'arco di un decennio, lavorando con diversi formati, ha realizzato cortometraggi sperimentali che vanno da ritratti personali a riflessioni sociali e politiche. Il suo lavoro è stato presentato in location e festival internazionali tra cui Anthology Film Archives e Rotterdam.


Moira Tierney, born in Dublin, graduated from University College Dublin followed by a Masters in Fine Arts from l'Ecole Nationale d'Arts de Cergy-Pontoise in Paris. In 1998 she was granted a Fulbright Scholarship to Anthology Film Archives (NYC). Over the past decade Tierney has worked with different formats producing experimental films ranging from personal portraits to socio-political visual commentaries. Her work has been screened throughout the world in festivals and venues such as Rotterdam and Anthology Film Archives.
