Il tredicenne Andrei vive alla periferia di Bucarest: un giorno decide di rubare un autobus per far colpo su Marilena, una prostituta di cui si è innamorato. Cosa non si fa per amore? Marilena de la P7 si immerge nell'universo delle emozioni dei teenager che tutti ben ricordiamo. La storia è ambientata nell'"esotica" periferia di Bucarest, e lo scenario è popolato da personaggi piuttosto audaci. Oltre a una storia, il film è anche un viaggio attraverso i sobborghi di Bucarest all'inizio del XXI secolo, senza modifiche alle location, del tutto naturali. La ripresa con camera a mano ha permesso di cogliere tutti i dettagli e gli elementi realistici dello sfondo, così da rafforzare l'atmosfera documentaristica del film.


Andrei, a 13-year-old teenager living at the outskirts of Bucharest, decides one day to steal a bus to impress Marilena, a prostitute he fell in love with. Things you do for love? Marilena from P7 plunges into the universe of teenage emotions that we all remember. The story takes place in the "exotic" outskirts of Bucharest, and the background is peopled with many authentically racy characters. Besides telling the story, the film also makes a cross-section of the life in the suburbs of Bucharest at the beginning of the 21st century, with no intervention whatsoever on most of the locations and extras. The hand held camera shooting style offers the opportunity to capture details and genuine background elements that enforce the documentary atmosphere of the movie.



Cristian Nemescu, è nato nel 1979 e si è diplomato all'Accademia di Teatro e Film di Bucharest nel 2003. Ha debuttato come regista di lungometraggi con California Dreamin' (endless). A soli 27 anni, Cristi Nemescu aveva già vinto importanti premi: nel 2003, con Poveste la Scara C, il premio come Miglior Cortometraggio al Berlin Interfilm Festival e come miglior regista all'Art Film Festival in Slovacchia; nel 2004, lo stesso film ha vinto il premio UIP all'European First Film Festival. Nel 2006, Marilena de la P7 è stato premiato come miglior film rumeno al Transilvania International Film Festival e come miglior film al Milano Film Festival; nel 2007 è stato selezionato per la Settimana internazionale della Critica, la sezione parallela di Cannes. California Dreamin' (endless) ha vinto nel 2007 il premio Un Certain Regard a Cannes, il Grand Prix al Bratislava Film festival 2007, il premio FIPRESCI e il premio della giuria nel Molodist Film Festival.
Cristiana Nemescu è morto il 24 agosto 2006 in un incidente stradale.


Cristian Nemescu, was born in 1979 and graduated from the Academy for Theater and Film of Bucharest in 2003.He made his debut as a feature film director in California Dreamin' (endless). At only 27, Cristi Nemescu won some very important awards: in 2003, for Poveste la Scara C, Best Short Award in Berlin Interfilm Festival and Best director at Art Film Festival, in Slovakia; in 2004 the same film won the UIP Award at European First Film Festival. In 2006, for Marilena de la P7, Best Romanian Film in Transilvania International Film Festival, Best Film in Milan Film Festival; last year, Marilena from P7 was selected in International Critics' Week the parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival.
California Dreamin' (endless) won in 2007 Un Certain Regard Award in Cannes Film Festival, Grand Prix in Bratislava Film festival 2007, FIPRESCI Prize and Special Jury Prize in Molodist Film Festival.
Cristiana Nemescu died on 24th of August, 2006 in a car accident.
