50 years ago a tearing
an emigration that started with a train
then, we became established where we just wanted to pass through
Since my childhood, I have been rocked by journeys back and forth between Belgium and Italy.
When my grand mother died, this rocking stopped.
With the passing years, her body became and integral part of the village.
So becoming a holy field.
Her mouring revealed me another mouring to do, of a motherland.
Today, I’m returning to this land, that now becomes a shelter for migrants that would tell us their stories.

Sonia Pastecchia, born in Liège in 1971. After studying dramatical interpretation at the INSAS between 1991 and 1994, she acted in shows dancing and singing. Strongly interested by sounds universe, she works on radio projects and creates in 1996 a performance on which she mixes sound, image, dance and theater on a documentary theme: the question of freedom in Cuba.
Following on the way of this experience, she directs a documentary called Isla screened in june 2002 (FIPRESCI Prize in Leipzing, Public’s prize in Istanbul).
