In 1991, when pictures from the Gulf War flooded the media throughout the world, it was impossible to distinguish between real images and those created by computer. The film alternates shots from the cameras mounted on the bombs with those from industrial documentaries on the automation of industrial processes. In this way, Farocki tries to show the link between military strategy and industrial production, showing how war technology is applied in everyday life. The film provides a lucid reflection on the present and on the reduction of human beings to an appendage of technology.
