“Pissies not sissies” č la prima di tre istallazioni che esplorano l’”International Mister Leather” contest. Ovvero un meeting mondiale dedicato all’immaginario bdsm gay. Noi seguiamo gli “Iml boys” mentre navigano attraverso il contest, l’hotel ospitante, i parties a tema e il flusso constante di eventi interni ed esterni al meeting. La sezione specifica Pissies Not Sissies ”porta le telecamere direttamente nel bagno della hall dove avviene il contest e propone ai partecipanti tematiche legate alla pratica dei “watersports (feticismo dell’urina)” come la performance, l’imbarazzo, il desiderio e il voyeurismo in un display shockante e basato sul confronto che invita ad un’analisi sull’assimilazione sia interna alla subcultura leather sia rispetto al mondo esterno.
"Pissies not sissies" is the first of four installations that explores the International Mister Leather contest. A worldwide meeting dedicated to BDSM gay imaginary. We follow the IML boys while they go around the contest, the hotel, the theme parties and all the events surrounding the meeting. The section “Pissies not Sissies” takes the video camera in the toilet of the main hall where the contest takes place and proposes to the participants themes related to “watersports” (urine fetishism) such as perfromance, embarrassment, desire and voyeurism in a shocking display based on the comparison that leads to an analysis on the assimilation of the leather subculture and of the external world.
Fotografo e film maker, Charls Lum ha una visione dell’HIV senza sena compromessi e che tocca la sua esperienza personale. Laureato al Carleton College Lum rende un MFA in fotografia allo School Of arts Insitute di Chicago nel 2004. Lum ha lavorato per 20 anni come Location menager per films. Molti dei suoi corti sono stati proiettati in tutti i festival del mondo.
Photographer and filmmaker, Charles Lum has his own uncompromised vision on HIV that touches his personal experience. Graduated at Carleton College Lum, he gets an MFA in Photography at the School Of Arts Institute of Chicago in 2004. Lum worked for 20 years as a location manager for films. Most of his short films have been screened worlwide.
