Negli anni ‘60 emerge un movimento pacifista che ha alterato il corso della storia. Questo movimento non ha preso piede nelle città universitarie, ma nelle caserme e nelle portaerei. È fiorito tra le fila dell'esercito, tra le istituzioni marine e nelle squallide città che circondano le basi militari. E' penetrato tra gli alti vertici militari come West Point. E si è sparso durante tutta la guerra in Vietnam. E' stato un movimento che nessuno si aspettava, nemmeno quelli che ci si sono trovati in mezzo. Centinaia furono arrestati e migliaia mandati in esilio. E dal 1971 ha, come ci dice un colonnello, infestato tutte le forze armate. Tuttavia, oggi, poca gente sa di questo movimento contro la guerra in Vietnam.
In the 1960’s an anti-war movement emerged that altered the course of history. This movement didn’t take place in college campuses, but in barracks and on aircraft carriers. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and in the dingy towns that surround the military bases. It penetrated elite military colleges like West Point and it spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam. It was a movement that no one expected, let alone those involved in it. Hundreds went to prison and thousands into exile. And by 1971 it had, in the words of a colonel, infested the entire armed forces . Yet today only a few people know about this movement against the war in Vietnam.
L' ultimo film di David Zeiger, A Night of Ferocious Joy, è stato proiettato per la prima volta nel 2003 all'International Documentary Filmfestival di Amsterdam. Il festival, che lo ha inserito nella sezione "U.S.A. oggi", lo ha descritto come "il film non racconta semplicemente un concerto... perché rimarrà nella storia come il primo concerto contro la guerra del nuovo millennio." La prima volta che è stato proiettato in un festival negli U.S.A. è stato nel 2004 al South By Southwest Festival, dove fu descritto come "un film memorabile e stimolante."
David Zeiger’s last film, A Night of Ferocious Joy, was premiered at the 2003 International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam. The festival, which featured it as part of its “USA Today” Section,, described the film as “not an ordinary concert film…because it will go down in history as the first anti-war concert of the new millennium.” Its U.S. festival premiere was at South by Southwest in 2004, which described it as “A rousing and eventful performance film.”
