REGULATIONS

Deadline: March 20th, 2005

Tekfestival is an international event which explores the contradictions of the Western development model, the borders and conflicts that cuts contemporary society. Tekfestival displays independent productions - documentaries, feature films and short films - selected from some of the more importants Italian and international festivals, and premieres.

The 4th edition will be held in Rome in May 2005.

The festival, organized by the Tekfestival Association, is divided into several sections, including: DOC Competition, Thematic sections, Special events.


DOC COMPETITION

The DOC Competition is open to Italian filmakers. Its aim is to sustain directors that have not found suitable means to realize their works. The Festival Selection Committee is responsible for selecting the films. The Festival will nominate an International Jury responsible for assigning the prize for the best documentary. The prize will be awarded to works that have never been awarded in other competitions*.

-Entry to the Competition is open to Italian documentaries.
-The films must be completed in 2003 or after.
-The formats accepted are: 35mm, Beta, Digital Beta, Mini DV
-Applications are free
-Applications to the Competition must be made out on the official on-line entry form. A VHS or DVD of the film entered must be forwarded to the festival along with least two still photographs from the film, a photo of the director, a synopsis, the director’s bio-filmography, a dialogue list, as well as any other documentation that might contribute to the selection of the work.
-The required documentation must be send by March 20, 2005 to:

THEMATIC SECTIONS

Selection is open for international documentaries, short film and feature films for the following sections:

Panorami: the best of the international productions of the last years
Terre di ghiaccio di fuoco e di confine: "Icelands, firelands, borderlands" is cross-section of the new trends in contemporary North Europe Cinema organized in collaboration with the Nordisk Film Festival, the Icelandic Film Center (Reykjavik), the Iceland Friends Association.
Mediascape: a fresh look on media mainstream strategies and independent networks tactics
Chinese Boxes-Scatole cinesi: young chinese filmakers between tradition and the explosion of the "chinese miracle" on global markets
Phag-off: a radical look on gender identity and sexual orientation.
Abitare il margine: a focus on four Rome's neighbourhoods by means of cinema.

SHIPPING RULES
-For the films submitted to selection, shipping costs are to be paid entirely by the sender.
-Please, send all the above mentioned material with the following indications: «Not for commercial value, only for cultural purposes".
-The VHS or DVD presented will not be returned, but will be purchased by the Festival Archives, which reserves the right to use them for projections of a divulging, promotional, educational and cultural nature with no financial gain involved under the express authorization of the holder of the rights.
-The The festival will cover mail return expenses.

Entry for the Festival implies full acceptance of the above regulations. Should any matter come into dispute, only the Italian version of the regulations will have force of law.
